Competition Details
The Brașov O-Meeting, now in its third edition, is a significant event in Romania’s orienteering calendar. In this edition, the competition includes four stages (Prologue, Sprint, Middle & Long – Pursuit). Two stages are part of the World Ranking Event (WRE), featuring a Sprint race in Râșnov city and a Middle Distance race in Săcele – Vălășoaia. The first stage is a Middle Distance – Prologue in Vulcan and the final stage is a Long Distance – Pursuit race, in Râșnov, adding an extra layer of strategy and endurance to the competition.

Terrain: Moderately hilly forested area with gentle slopes.
Vegetation: Dense pine forest with a few clearings.
Runnability and Visibility: Moderate to low, due to dense vegetation.
Paths and Roads: Forest roads and narrow trails, some unmarked.
Altitude: Situated at approximately 600–700 m above sea level.
Long
Event center: Râșnov
Altitude: ~600–960 m above sea level, increasing toward the surrounding hills and forests.
Terrain: Hilly terrain, with moderate slopes and occasional steep sections along the ridges.
Vegetation: Mixed forest (mainly deciduous, with some coniferous areas); vegetation density varies.
Runnability and Visibility: Moderate to low; open forest areas allow efficient movement, while dense sections reduce visibility and speed.
Paths and Roads: Sparse forest trails, logging roads, and occasional tracks; some areas have no paths.

Event center: Vulcan
Altitude: ~650–950 m above sea level, gradually increasing toward the surrounding forested hills.
Terrain: Moderately hilly terrain, with gentle slopes and some steeper sections along the ridges.
Vegetation: Mixed forest, predominantly deciduous, with scattered conifers; vegetation density varies.
Runnability and Visibility: Moderate to low — open forest areas are relatively runnable, while dense sections reduce speed and visibility.
Paths and Roads: Limited network of forest trails and old logging roads; some areas require navigation off-trail.

Details

Event center
The event center of Brașov O-Meeting, whose location will be announced in Bulletin 2, will facilitate the collection of race numbers before the competition (except for the Open, Open Children, and Family categories, which can register on-site), while daily validation will take place between 08:00 and 09:30 at each competition location, and the event secretariat will respond to email inquiries within 24 hours.

Timing System
The electronic timing system Sportident will be used. Competitors with a standard Sportident card will check in as usual, while SIAC users will be able to use the contactless system.
Sportident Card
Rental SI cards are available at no additional cost for participants who do not have their own chip. The fee for a lost Sportident card is €80.
Live Results
Online live results will be available, and the overall results will be published on the website after the final stage.

M10, M12, M14, M16, M18, M20, M21E, M21A, M35, M40, M45, M50, M55, M60, M65, M70, M75, M80+, W10, W12, W14, W16, W18, W20, W21E, W21A, W35, W40, W45, W50, W55, W60, W65, W70, W75, W80+, OPEN (category dedicated to adult beginners), OPEN CHILDREN (category dedicated to beginner children up to 16 years old), FAMILY.
Competitors in the M18 and M35 categories who wish to participate in the Sprint race in the M21E category and other events in their respective categories can inform us via email, as the registration system does not allow entry into two different categories.
Fee payment
Registrations are valid only after the fees have been received in our bank account, and the payment list is updated once a week, on Tuesdays. Please indicate the name and category on the transfer.
Cancellations: In the event of a complete or partial cancellation of the event due to reasons beyond our control, we reserve the right to retain part or all of the registration fees.
Additional note: Payment at the event center is only accepted for the Open, Open Children, and Family categories, which are the only categories still open for registration. Unpaid registrations by October 5 will be invalidated. The last day for registration is October 5, 2025.

Award ceremony
The WRE categories will be awarded at the end of each competition day, with prizes for the top 6 positions. The BVOM awards ceremony will take place on Sunday, and the rankings will combine the results of the three stages (the prologue will not be included in the cumulative ranking). The top three competitors in each category will be awarded.

We kindly ask that registrations for the Open, Open Children, and Family categories be made using the attached form. Payment will be made in the same way as for the other categories. Thank you!

Airport
București Henri Coandă
The distance between Henri Coandă Airport (Otopeni) and Brașov is approximately 160 kilometers. There are several options for traveling from the airport to Brașov:
By Car: You can rent a car at the airport and drive to Brașov. The journey takes about 2-3 hours, depending on traffic and weather conditions. It is recommended to use a navigation app like Waze to choose the fastest route, as this is one of the busiest roads in Romania.
By Train: From the airport, you can take a train to Gara de Nord in Bucharest (about 20-30 minutes). From Gara de Nord, you can take a direct train to Brașov. The Intercity (IC) and InterRegio (IR) trains are the fastest and most comfortable, with a journey time of approximately 2-3 hours.
Transfer Services: Another convenient option is to use transfer services that offer direct transport from Henri Coandă Airport to Brașov.

Brașov Ghimbav
Brașov-Ghimbav International Airport (AIBG) is located approximately 12 kilometers from the center of Brașov. Here are some options for traveling from Ghimbav Airport to Brașov:

Availability: Taxis are available at the airport and are one of the most convenient transportation methods. The journey takes about 20-30 minutes, depending on traffic. Cost: Fares can vary, but generally range around 40-60 lei.

Private Transfer
Transfer Companies: There are companies offering private transfers from the airport to Brașov. You can book in advance to have a driver waiting for you upon arrival.
